Thoughts of our daughter course through my day.<\/p>\n

Often waking me in the night.<\/p>\n

Is she safe, sad, alone, afraid, cold, hungry.<\/p>\n

I wonder how old she is, who is caring for her, where she is living.<\/p>\n

Grieving over all that I am missing.
\n<\/p>\n

All the gaps in her life I will never be able to fill.<\/p>\n

The lost time that I can not retrieve. <\/p>\n

The questions that will go unanswered.<\/p>\n

Her first smile, first wobbly steps, first word.<\/p>\n

<\/i> <\/i> <\/i><\/p>\n

I grieve, I cry out to Him.<\/p>\n

In a still, sure voice, He reassures me.<\/p>\n

“I see her.”<\/p>\n

Her Creator.<\/p>\n

Knitting her together in the darkness of her mother’s womb. <\/p>\n

Breathing life into her lungs, setting the cadence of her heart. <\/p>\n

Her Life Witness.<\/p>\n

Filling her gaps when all else is lacking.<\/p>\n

Loving her, delighting in all her “firsts”.<\/p>\n

<\/i> <\/i> <\/i><\/p>\n

Still I question. I am afraid. My faith wavering.<\/p>\n

In the same sure voice, I hear Him.<\/p>\n

“I see you.”<\/p>\n

Your Creator.<\/p>\n

Your Life Witness.<\/p>\n

Filling the gaps where you are lacking.<\/p>\n

Lighting the darkness where your fear runs to first. <\/p>\n

Not one detail of your life hidden from my view.<\/p>\n

Fully exposed yet completely loved, delighted in.<\/p>\n

<\/i> <\/i> <\/i><\/p>\n

It is the darkest before first light.<\/p>\n

He comforts through the blackest night.<\/p>\n

Glory rising, shining bright.<\/p>\n

I see Him.<\/p>\n

Awakening to His mercy.<\/p>\n

Time standing still.<\/p>\n

I see her. <\/p>\n

Wonderstruck at first sight.<\/p>\n

Arms open, stretching wide.<\/p>\n

<\/i> <\/i> <\/i><\/p>\n

Love revealed.<\/p>\n

Heart unfurling. <\/p>\n

She sees me.<\/p>\n

She draws near.<\/p>\n

Gathering her, holding tight.<\/p>\n

Gaps narrowing.<\/p>\n

Dawn’s first light.<\/p>\n

Witnessing, delighting in the “first” of many.<\/p>\n

Our Creator, knitting together every detail.<\/p>\n

<\/i> <\/i> <\/i><\/p>\n

If I say \u201cSurely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,\u201d even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.<\/p>\n

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother\u2019s womb.
\nI praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.<\/p>\n

My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. <\/p>\n
