How will we RESPOND?

How will our family take a LEAP of faith?

After years of talking about it, months of praying and many sleepless nights my husband and I both feel compelled to respond. As a family we are taking the leap and moving forward to pursue adoption. We feel that God is calling us to begin this journey and we desire to obey this call.

This may bring up a few questions or concerns. With this in mind, I have prepared a few questions that may or may not be at the forefront of your thoughts and my honest and heartfelt answers.

Why would we want more children? Isn’t four enough?

Our four children are a joy and sometimes are home feels very full and more than a little crazy. Even so, God fills our cup and it overflows. He is our great provider and he continues to give us all we need. We may not need more children but we desire more and we know that there are millions of children who desperately need families.

Why not just sponsor a child or serve on a short term mission trip? Why would we want to adopt?

Sponsoring a child and serving on a mission trip are important and vital to the care of children and orphans in need. Matthew 25:40, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me”. We as Christ followers are not all called to adopt but we are called to care for those less than ourselves. God has opened our hearts and given us the desire to adopt and we are very confident that adoption is a part of our families purpose and story.

Katie Davis writes in her book, “Kisses from Katie“,

Adoption is a beautiful picture of redemption. It is the Gospel in my living room.

We desire this for our family. We believe that not only has God prepared both my husband and I to adopt, he has also equipped our four children with unique gifts that will play a special part in His redemption story in our humble living room. We are also certain that the child that God gives us through adoption will bring more blessings to our family than we can even begin to imagine.

Are we a little crazy?

Yes, we are. I remember as a child, my family and I would be in the car and my brothers or I would ask my parents, “Where are we going?”. My Dad in his silly way would respond, ” Crazy, do you want to come with?”.

Will you join our family on this crazy journey God has called us to take?

We know we can not do this alone. The journey will be long, the valleys low and the mountain tops high. We are confident that God will strengthen us and that He has walked before us, behind us and He is with us.

In the weeks and months to come, I will continue to share my heart and our journey towards adoption. My hope is that through my words you might find encouragement in pursuing any desire God may be placing on your heart. Above all else my prayer is that I will glorify God in all that I share.

Your questions or comments are welcomed. You can follow our crazy adoption journey by subscribing below.
