As the seasons begin to turn, as the days become shorter, the air taking on a crisp chill and the leaves changing to brilliant yellows and reds, I am reminded to rest. To lay under warm blankets for a few more minutes in the early dawn. To sip steaming coffee, honoring the rare quiet moments in my day. To take walks with my children in search of fall treasures, leaves in jewel tones and golden acorns. To prepare comfort foods like soup or stew and warm crusty bread and savor the harmonious moments and playful banter around our dinner table. Life takes on warm, brilliant hues and my heart feels full.<\/p>\n

This year as I wait for our little girl, there is a deep longing that grows increasingly stronger as the seasons change. At times, I feel restless to know her, to hold her, to have her home. In my longing and restlessness, I am seeking God’s peace and rest. Abiding in His presence.<\/p>\n

I feel like an autumn tree releasing my brilliant leaves to the earth. I am letting go, my heart wide open and bare. Rooting into Jesus, the firm foundation that will sustain me. Extending my roots deeper still, for the life giving nourishment that satisfies all my longings and restores my soul.<\/p>\n
