In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.
Proverbs 16:9 NIV
I have always been a planner and someone who likes to be in control. I have lived my life in neat and tidy rows. The unknown has alway scared me. Although as with our garden, I am learning to live outside the rows. Getting my hands dirty in the grit and grim of this world. Realizing that this messy wild living that God has called our family to is so much better. Wild flowers and even weeds can bring surprising gifts of beauty.
Lord, I give you all my best laid plans. I give you my fears and doubts about the future. I give you my family, my children. You know what is the very best for us. I desire your best.
Thank you for leading our family on the journey of adoption. You have planted this desire long ago in my heart and it is amazing to see you working towards bringing our fifth child, our baby girl, home to us. I can see your hand so clearly in the many ways you have provided along the way.
I will follow you for I know that though this journey may be marked with hardship, you are with me. You are with my family and our daughter in Bulgaria. You have gone before us, to make a way. I am certain that you have planned surprising gifts of beauty along our path.
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

In spite of a dry Springtime, the wildflowers in the hills are blooming. They take what little rain they receive and turn it into colorful beauty. Today it is raining, so they can continue to grow and thrive a bit longer. You also are taking what you have been given and turning it into colorful beauty…that is, children. They are our future. May “rain” from Bulgaria fall into your lives soon!

This is a beautiful way to look at it.
Inspite of this dry springtime, the wild flowers are still blooming. This is one thing about children that I love, they are resilient and can see beauty, find joy, receive love in the most basic and simple ways.
Thank you, Fran for your encouragement and your words of wisdom.
